Overview of Diving Materials
Neoprene, commonly known as diving material, is a synthetic rubber foam characterized by its fine, soft, and elastic texture. It offers excellent shock absorption, heat insulation, elasticity, waterproofing, and airtightness. Due to its widespread use in diving gear manufacturing, it has become popularly known as neoprene. Recent advancements and cost reductions, alongside strong promotion by manufacturers, have expanded neoprene’s applications significantly.
When laminated with various fabrics—such as T-cloth, LYCRA, N-cloth, mercerized cloth, nylon, OK cloth, and imitation OK cloth—neoprene is widely used in diving suits, sports protective equipment, body-shaping products, gifts, thermos cup covers, fishing pants, shoes, and more.
It’s important to note that neoprene lamination differs from standard shoe material lamination, requiring specific adhesives and processes tailored to different application needs.
